About CPES 2027

The IFAC Symposium on Control of Power and Energy Systems (CPES 2027) will be held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, on June 10-12, 2027, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cluj - City Plaza.

CPES is part of a well-established series of scientific events dedicated to advances in the modeling, analysis, optimization, and control of modern power and energy systems. The symposium has evolved with the transformation of the energy sector, expanding from power-system modeling and control toward smart grids, distributed energy resources, renewable-energy integration, and cyber-physical energy systems.

CPES 2027 will bring together researchers, engineers, practitioners, and industry experts to present recent advances in theory, methods, tools, and applications for monitoring, controlling, managing, and maintaining complex power and energy systems.

The symposium is organized under the auspices of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), with SRAIT and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.

CPES 2027 will be hosted at the five-star DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cluj - City Plaza, 9-13 Sindicatelor Street, 400029 Cluj-Napoca. The hotel is located on a quiet side street in the historic center, within walking distance of Central Park, the main cultural attractions, restaurants, and academic landmarks. The venue offers modern conference facilities, accommodation, wellness services, and a limited number of paid parking spaces for hotel guests.

By plane

Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport is approximately 8 km east of the city center and offers direct domestic and international connections.

Travellers without a convenient direct flight to Cluj-Napoca may also consider flying to Bucharest or Budapest and continuing to Cluj-Napoca by a connecting flight, train, long-distance coach, or car.

By train

Cluj-Napoca railway station is located north of the city center and has domestic and international rail connections. Timetables, journey planning, and online tickets are available from CFR Călători. Local public transport and taxis connect the railway station with the conference venue.

By car and long-distance coach

Cluj-Napoca is linked with the capital Bucharest through the following main routes:

Cluj-Napoca is linked with Budapest through European route E60 (467 km).

Actual travel times can vary significantly because of traffic and ongoing road works, so participants travelling by car should use an up-to-date route planner.

Information about municipal parking facilities is available from the Cluj-Napoca City Hall. A city-operated Park & Ride facility is located near the airport. The conference hotel has limited paid parking, and advance confirmation with the hotel is recommended.

Regional and international coach services arrive at several terminals in Cluj-Napoca. Routes and timetables can be searched through Autogari.ro and individual operators such as FlixBus. Participants should verify the arrival terminal because not all services use the same coach station.

Getting around Cluj-Napoca

Cluj-Napoca has an extensive network of buses, trolleybuses, and trams operated by CTP Cluj-Napoca. The DoubleTree venue is centrally located, so many hotels, restaurants, and attractions can also be reached on foot. Taxis and ride-sharing services are widely available.

The conference venue provides on-site accommodation, and numerous hotels, guesthouses, and apartments are available in central Cluj-Napoca. Any negotiated conference rates and booking instructions will be published on this website when available. Participants are advised to verify cancellation conditions and reserve early, as June is a busy period in Cluj-Napoca.
